Pontiac Silverdome finally demolished after failed first attempt

They don’t make them like they used to. It took two attempts for the Pontiac Silverdome, the former home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions, to bite the dust. Still standing after the first implosion, it was finally demolished by a second blast to the upper section of the stadium, which has stood in Michigan since 1975

Watch the Qudos Bank Arena transform for supercross

The team at the Qudos Bank Arena – widely known as the Sydney Super Dome – transforms the indoor arena into a supercross track ahead of the Aus-X Open. The venue, which was built as part of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games project, is the largest permanent indoor sports arena in Australia.

Sports Architects

Based in Melbourne, candidates must be prepared to travel and/or work internationally for several weeks at a time

Cox Architecture is Australia’s most successful sports architectural practice with a growing presence throughout the Asia and the world.

Our International Sports Team is currently looking for talented Sports Architects with a strong background in sporting and stadia design. While the opportunities are based in our Melbourne office, candidates must be prepared to travel and/or work internationally for several weeks at a time.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience on major sporting projects is essential
• Minimum 5 years experience
• Must have a passion to deliver outstanding design outcomes
• Must be able to work both autonomously and in a tight team on large projects within often demanding project programs
• An understanding of dynamic architectural form
• Exceptional, forward-thinking design solutions must be reflected in your portfolio
• Rhino, Grasshopper and Revit skills are a prerequisite
