Finance manager, Atlanta Falcons

Flowery Branch, Georgia

Salary: Competitive

The Atlanta Falcons are a professional football club and member of the National Football League (NFL). The team will play its home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the 2017 season. The team’s headquarters and practice facilities are currently located at a 50-acre site in Flowery Branch, Georgia. The Falcons’ NFL expansion franchise was awarded in 1965 and acquired by Arthur Blank, co-founder of Home Depot, in 2002. Under Blank’s leadership, the Falcons have become one of the League’s premier teams on and off the field.

The purpose of the Finance Manager position is to support Finance operations for the Atlanta Falcons Football Club, focusing on assisting in all financial reporting, both internal and external. This position reports directly to the Controller and is primarily based in Flowery Branch, GA and will also work out of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Manage preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
• Monitoring financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved budgets
• Communicate financial results and projections and results to management and department heads
• Creation of annual budget and 5-Year plan
• Lead in the preparation of year end and periodic NFL reports
• Manage annual audit process with external auditors and with NFL Internal Audit
• Financial modeling and cash flow projections
• Track state tax compliance and reporting in conjunction with outside tax consultants
• Complete other projects as assigned
• Supervise staff accountant
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA Preferred
• 4-8 years of experience in corporate or public accounting (experience in sports industry a plus)

Required Skills
• Knowledge of financial planning & analysis, finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Advanced knowledge of financial planning and analysis, and accounting software applications
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
• Strong skills in building relationships across departments with a customer service oriented approach
• 3+ years of management experience
• Ability to concurrently perform multiple assignments, highly detail oriented and organized in work
• Exceptional computer skills (advanced Excel skills) and business writing skills
• Ability to coach and supervise others
• Flexibility in work schedule
