Jaguars announce NFL’s first in-stadium dog park

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be attracting a new breed of fan from the start of the 2018-2019 season after it announced it will be introducing the NFL’s first ever in-stadium dog park, which will host pets during games.

The league’s first-of-its-kind offering created in a partnership with dog resort and day spa company Pet Paradise will be located at the south end zone patio of TIAA Bank Field where a fenced off area features a bone-shaped swimming pool and a large artificial turf play area where owners can drop off their dogs to play while they watch the game from their seats. Kennels, umbrellas and palm trees will also be present to provide shade from the Florida heat.

“The Jaguars pride ourselves on creating a game day experience that is convenient for all family members, and for many that includes pets,” said Scott Massey, Jaguars senior vice president of corporate partnerships.

“Together with Pet Paradise, the official pet services partner of the Jaguars, we’re excited to give new meaning to the term tailgating.”

Pet Paradise staff and a veterinarian will be on-site during games and a live internet camera will allow people to log in to see what’s going on inside the dog park.

The area will host 25 to 30 dogs per game – up to 250 in total throughout the upcoming season – and will open for the first Jaguars pre-season game against New Orleans Saints on August 9, 2018.

The dog park will only be available to winners of the Pet Paradise Top Dog sweepstakes competition, Jaguars season ticket members and winners of an auction benefiting the Jacksonville Humane Society.

“Pet Paradise Park, a one-of-a-kind experience for our pet guests and their owners, will raise money and awareness to help pets in need in our community while giving our furry friends a fun place to enjoy Jaguars’ football,” said Fernando Acosta-Rua, Pet Paradise CEO.

“We have a long-standing partnership with the Jacksonville Humane Society, and our plan is to raise US$50,000 this season to help homeless pets in Northeast Florida.”
