Contractor appointed for C.ex Coffs International Stadium upgrade

Work will begin on a major upgrade at C.ex Coffs International Stadium in early 2018. Work on the venue, which is located in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, should be completed by late 2019. Lipman Pty has been appointed as the design and construction contractor for the project, which will include development of two new grandstands, an annex building, and refurbishment of the existing grandstand.

The new stadium will feature almost 3,000 seats, and upgraded player, team, media, spectator and corporate facilities.

Coffs Harbour mayor Denise Knight says the upgrade will increase the economic benefit that the stadium brings to the community: “The council recognizes the importance of this project to the local economy and our community. The C.ex Coffs International Stadium currently injects A$30m (US$23m) annually into the local economy and the new facility will allow us to attract more events, more visitors, more teams and more spectators to our beautiful region.

“We have every confidence that Lipman and their team will deliver a stadium universally regarded by our stakeholders as the best regional sports stadium in Australia, a place that drives the visitor economy through events, and that our community is immensely proud of.”

“Lipman is thrilled to have this opportunity to work with Coffs Harbour City Council on the revitalization of C.ex Coffs Harbour International Stadium,” adds Lipman regional manager Darren Ferguson. “We are excited to bring together some of the best local talent to build a renowned regional sporting venue and recreational precinct, designed with the needs of the local community at its heart.

“Our project team provides a combination of extensive stadium experience and local capability – this includes local consultants DRA Architects and Glenn Haig & Partners Engineering, both from Coffs Harbour. Additionally we partner with Hassell Architects and Northrop Engineers, both respected experts in stadium design. The team look forward to working with the Council and its stakeholders to deliver the Council’s vision for this project.”
