Daktronics to provide Angels Stadium with 14 new LED displays

Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Angels will be enhancing the fan experience for the 2018 season with the installation of 14 new LED displays that will total 23,000ft² at Angels Stadium.

The biggest of the new LED screens supplied by electronics company Daktronics will be located in the right field measuring 9,500ft² (the equivalent of 890 60in televisions), making it the third largest in Major League Baseball.

Angels Stadium will also benefit from a new display in the left field at 5,488ft² in size, while both screens will feature 13HD pixel layouts and 11,000 nits of brightness for enhanced outdoor picture clarity for fans.

Each display will be capable of content zoning, which will allow them to show combinations of multiple windows of live video, replays, stats, graphics and sponsorship messages.

Eight ribbon displays will also be installed at the venue along the seating fascia, with the largest spanning the entire length of the first and third baselines, to provide additional game statistics and sponsorship opportunities. With a further two auxiliary displays providing another 2,500ft² of digital space for fan-focused content, the club continues to invest in evolving the game-day experience.

“While putting a perennial contender on the field remains a top priority, the fan experience is very important to Angels Baseball,” says Angels club president John Carpino. “We believe this investment into Angels Stadium will dramatically enhance the overall experience for our loyal and dedicated fan base, and look forward to unveiling this technology at the start of the 2018 season.”

Daktronics has been supplying and installing displays at Angels Stadium since 2004 and the new installations for 2018 will see a total of 17.1 million LED pixels in operation in and around the venue as well as a digital billboard on the 57 freeway to promote upcoming events.
