SMG to manage Baylor University stadium

It has been announced that Baylor University’s brand new football stadium will be managed by venue management provider SMG.

SMG has signed an agreement with the University to provide pre-opening services through to the opening of the stadium next summer. The five-year management agreement detailing SMG’s scope of services is expected to be signed by the two parties soon. Under the agreement, SMG will provide a full range of services for the University, including working with Baylor Athletics on game day management of its football games, as well as booking and management of all non-Baylor events held at the facility. SMG’s food service division, SAVOR has also been selected to provide food and beverage services at Baylor Stadium and other Baylor athletic facilities on campus.

“We are thrilled to be working with Baylor University as they open their new football stadium,” said Doug Thornton, SMG Executive vice president of stadiums and arenas. “This is a very significant project for the University and the City of Waco, and we are dedicated to ensuring its success. We are looking forward to creating a wonderful game day experience for the Baylor fans.”

“Baylor Stadium will be the most dynamic, student-athlete and fan-friendly college football facility in the nation,” said Ian McCaw, Baylor director of athletics. “We look forward to our partnership with SMG creating a first class experience for everyone who comes to the facility. SMG has a successful track record in operating major stadiums and brings a wealth of experience and resources to Baylor and Waco.”
