Inside Selhurst Park redevelopment plans

Last week, English Premier League club Crystal Palace announced plans to redevelop its Selhurst Park stadium. The club has also released a video, detailing the expansion project, which will see the venue’s capacity increase from 26,000 seats to more than 34,000.

Pontiac Silverdome finally demolished after failed first attempt

They don’t make them like they used to. It took two attempts for the Pontiac Silverdome, the former home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions, to bite the dust. Still standing after the first implosion, it was finally demolished by a second blast to the upper section of the stadium, which has stood in Michigan since 1975

Vikings issue update on practice facility, training stadium and headquarters

NFL side releases details of work on Twin Cities Orthopedic Performance Center and expandable TCO Stadium

 

The Minnesota Vikings has released updated details and construction milestones for the team’s practice facility and headquarters. The Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center and TCO Stadium is expected to be ready for the Vikings to move in to in March 2018.

The facility will feature five outdoor practice fields (four grass, one synthetic); a 6,000-seat stadium, expandable to 10,000; outdoor training areas, including a sand pit and inclined surfaces; a 92,000ft² indoor practice facility; team auditorium and player position meeting rooms; expanded locker room, weight room and equipment facilities; cardiovascular and specialized speed rooms; hydrotherapy room and post-workout recovery rooms; and 184,000ft² of new administrative offices.

Construction on the project continues to progress, with work on the roofing of the facility having begun at the start of May and expected to be completed by the end of June. Work on the exterior walls will be completed by the end of August, while outdoor field work will begin in July. The turf for the TCO Stadium will be installed in the autumn of 2017, and the indoor turf will follow in early 2018, ahead of the team moving in.
